Shake, Rattle & Roll...

Well, we experienced a first in our house tonight! After tucking our boys into bed, my husband, mother and I settled in to watch a movie. We were about half way through and something happened. I was laying on our sectional sofa, my mom was at the other end in the recliner and my husband was laying in the floor. All of a sudden I felt a little shakin' going on. I looked at Darrin and mom and they were just watching the movie like all was normal. Was I going nuts or what? I knew I felt something. Then I figured it was Darrin making sure I was awake and shaking the couch with his foot or something. Nope, his feet were in clear view and there was no moving going on. Well, after about 5 seconds I just wrote it off as "who knows" and went back to watching the movie. How strange! Well, after the movie was over we watched a little TV and to our amazement this is what we heard:

Minor Earthquake Shakes The Carolinas
News Channel 7
Wednesday, August 24, 2005

A minor earthquake rattled parts of the Carolinas on Wednesday night.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was two miles from Hot Springs in Madison County, North Carolina. It had a magnitude of 3.8. It happened shortly after 11 o'clock. Residents in Western North Carolina and across the Upstate felt the tremor.
There are no reports of any damage.

Darrin and I looked at each other at the exact same time and said, "you know..." He had felt it too but didn't say anything. We'd never felt an actual earthquake before so we had no idea. Hot Springs is a little over 90 miles from us. Wow!
