Tater Tot's Class Pumpkin

Last week was red ribbon week at the boy's school. Each homeroom parent was challenged to help their class decorate a pumpkin. The theme for the week was "We have the power to live drug free." Above you can see what I came up with for Tater's class. The sign on the left says "Doing drugs is batty" and the little red ribbon says "We have the POWER. Do you?" They were so very proud of it and so I was.

A Look at our Silly Yorkies

Chasie & Bo all snuggled up together

Bo is 1 3/4 years old and has been with us since he was eight weeks old. Chasie we were lucky enough to adopt from a woman in Charlotte, NC when he was just six months old. He is now 1 1/2 years old. They're the best of buddies and we love them dearly. We consider them our two youngest sons!

Here's Tater Tot

Okay, have you seen this commercial on TV? Well, remove the girl, insert Tater Tot & it would be perfect. This is exactly how our youngest is. He never stops talking! He even has conversations with himself while in the car. They generally go something like this: "Man, I wish I could stop talking! My mouth just won't stop. (placing hand over mouth and mumbling) See, I'm trying but I just can't. Why do I talk so much? I guess that's just how God made me, huh Mommy?" Who would I give a Volvo to? Myself if Tater's area was sound proof!

Supporting our Troops

Bubby & I have just finished stuffing over 60 envelopes to send to the "Letters from Home Program." They are based in Johnsburg, PA and have been sending letters, cards, and care packages to our troops for the past two years. It couldn't be easier to participate. Just buy/make as many cards as you'd like, sign them (we add a little computer printed note to each card), and mail them to LFHP. They do all the rest. After last year's Christmas campaign, we heard back from five of the soldiers that received our cards. We have kept in touch with them throughout the year. We feel like it's the very least we can do to support our men and women in the military. Whether we agree with this war or not, we still support our troops! So, if you're interested, check out their website. But...do it soon. The deadline is Nov. 19th. They must receive your cards by this date to get them to the troops in time for Christmas. Here are a few other sites that also offer various ways to show your support for our military personnel:

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen things I like about Halloween:
1. Seeing our boys dressed up
2. Passing out candy to all the neighborhood kids
3. Cooler weather
4. Leaves crunching under our feet
5. Scary movies on TV
6. Decorating the house
7. Going to the pumpkin farm
8. Carving the pumpkins
9. Roasting pumpkin seeds
10. Spooky music
11. Our neighborhood kid's party
12. Checking out Halloween books from the library
13. Candy!

What you see is NOT what you get!

I saw this on "Ellen" the other day and wanted to share it. Isn't it just so amazing how "the industry" wants us all to believe that we're not living up to our potential? Even cover models have to be touched up before they'll us their pictures in print. Bravo, Dove! Well done.

How precious is this?

As Tater Tot was walking out the door for car pool yesterday morning he stopped, turned around, looked up at me with his precious brown eyes and said, "I'm really starting to like school, Mommy!" Music to my ears. He's not liked it since day one. Kindergarten just isn't as fun as pre-school he would tell me. Thank you, God for answering that prayer.

Then, when he came home yesterday afternoon he says, "You know I told you I was starting to like school?" "Yes (with fingers crossed)?," I replied. "Well, I am......but......... I miss you all day. I think about you on the way to school, during group time, center time, lunch, recess and really at nap time. I just miss you too much." I just wanted to scoop him up and squeeze him tighter than ever. He's got me wrapped around every single one of his little fingers and he knows it. Watch out in about ten years girls, he's a smoooooooth talker! You can't say I didn't warn you.

Our Two Little Mice

Today is "dress as a book character day" at the boys' school. You aren't supposed to buy anything for this...just use what you have around the house. So, we decided they would go as the mouse in the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. Simple, yet cute!

Works For Me Wednesday

Light up toothbrushes are what works for my kids! They put the toothpaste on and then push the bottom of the handle up. A little flashing light inside the handle stays on for one minute. When it goes off they know they can stop brushing. How simple is that? I love 'em! For more great ideas head on over to Rocks In My Dryer.

Happy Birthday in Heaven, Papaw!

Today would have been my Papaw's 86th birthday. He went home to be with his Lord in May 2005. He was an amazing, loving, caring, thoughtful, and generous man who I miss greatly. Happy Birthday in heaven, Papaw.

God's Angel

Thank you Lord for sharing with me
One of your angels so precious is he.

He's shown the love you have for us all
And I proudly call him my Papaw.

A Christian example he's always shown
And was never afraid to let it be known.

He led me to you one bright Sunday morn'
For he wanted to know that I'd been reborn.

You've allowed us to love him for so many years
Now our selfishness is the reason for these tears.

We all love him so deeply and will miss him so much
But there's comfort in knowing we'll again feel his touch.

You're calling him home to rejoice with you
Of that there is nothing we can possibly do.

We can, however, look forward to the day
When we're reunited because Jesus paid our way.

We ask for your comfort and peace in our hearts
We love him so much and it's painful to part.

No one could ever take his place
There will just forever be an empty space.

Our memories will never fade
They'll get us through the hardest of days.

Again, thank you Dear Lord for sharing with us
An angel from heaven we know as Otis.

I wrote this two weeks before he passed away. I knew the time was drawing near. He truly was my angel!

Fun at the Park

Since this was another Sunday that daddy had to work, the boys and I headed out to the park. It's becoming a little chilly in the south...65 degrees today. We just got out our sweatshirts and had a great time anyway. There are more pictures here.

It's "Open Season" time

Since daddy had to work today, the boys and I went to the movies. We saw "Open Season." It was a pretty cute little movie. The bear, Boog, is hilarious. It's one we'll buy when it comes out on dvd I'm sure. It got three thumbs up from us!

We're off to see the Wizard

Front row seats!

Tater Tot checking out the orchestra pit durring the intermission

Last night I took the boys to see a production of "The Wizard of Oz." (Hubby had to work late so he couldn't go with us). It was Tater's first musical and
Bubby's second. Surprisingly, Tater did well until the last 15 minutes or so. It was rather long...2 1/2 hours with a 15 minute intermission. Bubby, of course, loved it. He wants to be in one now. The set designs were amazing as were the special effects. Afterwards, we met Hubby for a very late supper (9:30 pm). We were all tired and ready for bed when we got home, but it was a really nice evening out with my guys!
