Vacation Recap

Okay! I'm unpacked and the laundry is almost finished. So, here goes..............Our vacation didn't quite get off to the best start but it ended wonderfully! We were supposed to leave for Myrtle Beach on Saturday, July 28th. However, Tater Tot woke up at 5:00 a.m. with a 101 degree fever and vomiting. That lasted for about 12 hours. So, we were able to leave the next day. We were all a little bummed though because Darrin couldn't go with us. He had to stay and work until Wednesday. We did the usual: Broadway at the Beach; Barefoot Landing, Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum, ate at Nakato, etc. We had a nice time although it was all starting to seem a little old. Isn't that awful to say? We've been to Myrtle Beach so many times that we've done and seen everything. We needed a little change in scenery so after leaving the condo on Saturday, we headed south to Charleston, SC. Well, when I say "we" I actually mean me, Darrin and Tater Tot. Bubby opted to go home with Nana and Papa who had been at the beach with us.

As soon as we crossed the Copper River on the Arthur Ravenel Bridge we knew we were going to like it. We were in unfamiliar territory and were eager to explore. We quickly grabbed a hotel room in North Charleston and then set out to look around. Over the next three days we toured Charleston Harbor aboard a nicely appointed ship, walked around downtown and marveled at the many southern mansions, ate some wonderful Charleston seafood, explored Folly Beach (the edge of America) and it's lighthouse, drove over to Isle of Palms, learned about Fort Sumter, and even found time to shop a little on James Island and downtown on Market Street. We hated to leave but Darrin did need to get back to work. We're planning a return trip next month since it is only 3 hours south of us. We'd move there in a heart beat.....especially across the bay to Mount Pleasant. For tons of vacation pics go to flickr.

  1. We haven't been down that way since we moved here. And prior to that, just a drive-thru visit. Can't wait to go again!! Glad you had fun!
