Tater's last day of school
What a great last day! The parents started the morning off with a power point presentation created by Tater's class. Yes, kindergarten students now learn how to make power point presentations. Amazing, isn't it? Each child chose a specific animal to learn about and then created two "slides" to tell about the animal. They each stood at the appropriate time and read what they had learned. After that, his teacher presented another power point show. This one had us all crying. As the background music played "Let them be little" by Billy Dean, she had a baby picture of each child then a current picture. Oh, it was so sweet and sad at the same time. Our babies are growing up. They're going to be first graders next year...unbelievable. As homeroom mom, I also arranged for the kids to have a pizza party to celebrate their last day of kindergarten. Other parents brought sweets, juice boxes, etc. They loved it. His teacher also presented each child with an award that exemplified their personality. Payton was award the "kindest" certificate. Before we knew it it was 12:30 and the school day was over. Tater's excited about the summer fun to come but he has already said a few times that he misses school. He ended up with the following awards:
- Math Superstars
- S.E.E.D.S. (reading program)
- Governor's Reading Honor Roll
- Perfect Attendance (4th nine weeks)
As we were leaving (and without any prompting from me) he went over to his teacher and gave her a big hug. Then, he softly said "Thank you for being such a good teacher!" He also assured her that he would visit next year "even though I'll be a first grader!"
Sweet.
